Text Area

With the new student residence targeted to be available in coming years, the number of University bed space for UG students will be increased by 1,000 to a total of around 5,500, excluding some beds potentially to be reserved for hall renovation work.

In response to the increase in housing supply, the University reviewed the UG Hall Admission Policy for Residential Year 2023-24 and onwards. A Task Force on UG Hall Allocation Policy Review (Task Force) including students and faculty members was established for discussions from different perspectives.

The ten-member Task Force met for the first time on 5 March 2021. Suggestions, feedback and comments were collected from students, University faculty/School and administration staff via various channels including online surveys, emails and public consultation. After incorporating the opinions from the stakeholders, the Task Force proposed the allocation principles and design of the framework and received approval from the University Management.

Mass Consultation for students

For the ease of collecting initial opinions regarding the current UG hall allocation policy, an online survey for students’ input was made. The survey was closed on 5 May 2021. Here are the results of the Survey:
