We pride ourselves on having a wide variety of room types for students to choose from with 2,976 places in double or triple rooms for UG students in UG Halls I to VI and 1,568 places in single or double rooms for UG students in Chan Sui Kau and Chan Lam Moon Chun Hall (UG Hall VII), UG Hall VIII and UG Hall IX and TKO Jockey Club Hall.​

*Barrier-free means that our hall places are accessible for all residents, no matter with disabilities or not. Some of the features are as follows:

Affordable housing for students*

HKUST provides housing subsidies to its student residents to ensure that the University would constantly offer prices below market rates. Financial aids are also available to students in need (click here for information about UG student types or here for information about PG student types; the annual hall charges for Residential Year 2024-25 and financial aids available from the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office can be found under the "Hall Charges" sub-link under the respective student type webpages),

Per the University's estimations, the cost of living outside campus, including rent and utility expenses, ranges from HKD$5,200 to HKD$12,700 per month (more information available here).

The annual charges (9 months, from September to May of the sebsequent year) for HKUST UG student accomodation range from HKD$14,178 to HKD$42,534 (i.e., around HKD$1,575 to HKD$4,726 per month), while the charges for PG student accomodation range from HKD$2,759 to HKD$5,041 per month. The University is providing accomodations to students with price rates as low as 12.5% of the price rates of accomodations provided by outside landlords.

*The analysis and comparisons are made based on the following assumptions:

• the personal space provided to a student resident by the University or a landlord would be around 100 feet square and with a similar living environment. Married-couple rooms for PGs are not included in the calculations as the size of such rooms excceds the 100 feet square asssumption.
• the accomodation provided by the landlord is located close to the University campus.
